Composite RestorationIf you have a chipped, slightly misaligned, or otherwise imperfect tooth that needs cosmetic restoration, we may suggest one-appointment bonding. We can apply composite resin, shaded to blend with your tooth’s color, to restore a pleasing look to your tooth. After hardening the resin with a curing light, our dentists will artistically sculpt and polish the restoration. In just one visit, you can enjoy a beautiful new smile! Composite bonding can be a possible, affordable alternative to porcelain veneers. Composite restorations are non-toxic and aesthetically pleasing.

Composite bonding is the least invasive way to correct numerous cosmetic dental problems in a single visit. This is not just dentistry, it’s Dental Art!

Healthier, more natural looking replacement fillings.

Everyday we see people with broken teeth and tooth aches caused by old silver fillings that have expanded with temperature and time like the mercury in old thermometers. These teeth now need crowns, root canals, or extractions. Frequently, there is decay under the fillings due to the fact that they were done before recent advances in caries (decay) detectors and bonded restorations to seal out the decay from forming at the margins.

It’s a known fact that mercury is a highly toxic substance. Some scientific researchers claim that each time you bite down on mercury-based fillings, you may be releasing a small amount of mercury vapor into your mouth, and into your system. This “mercury mist” builds up in the body over the years, which can lead to a toxic reaction.

Dr. Myaskovsky has not placed a mercury filling since 1989 when the Environmental Protection Agency declared the left over amalgam a hazardous substance. He can replace your old, worn mercury fillings with modern tooth-colored composite materials. Composite restorations are non-toxic and aesthetically pleasing.

In the past, replacing silver fillings consisted of lab fabricated restorations. This would include excessive tooth removal, impressions, temporaries, and two appointments. Now we can save teeth, remove these mercury fillings and fix the broken down teeth in just one appointment.

Bonded Tooth Colored Inlays/Onlays

  • We follow the IAOMT protocol for removal of amalgam fillings.
  • We remove amalgam fillings under a rubber dam for isolation & your protection.
  • Teeth that have been prepared for silver fillings have holes that are simply too big to replace with direct bonded composite fillings.
  • We remove the silver fillings, use a decay detector to eliminate any decay, insulate the tooth, take an impression, and fabricate a piece of polymer resin in the laboratory and then bond it in the same appointment.
  • In certain circumstances a crown would be necessary.
